Mary Downing, age 87, of Avon Lake, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, at Avenue Assisted Living.

She was born on April 26, 1938, in Fairport Harbor, Ohio, to the late Joseph & Mary Beno.

A dedicated homemaker, Mary took great pride in caring for her family and her home. Mary enjoyed spending time with friends, reading books, and taking care of her family.

Mary was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Jim Downing; her son, Timothy; and daughter, Stacy McCoy.

She is survived by her loving daughters, Michelle (John) Lagor and Victoria (Don) Downing-Watson. Mary was a proud grandmother to Jacquelyn, Kayla, Phillip, Lauren, Bella, Zak, Chloe, and Seth; and she was the proud great grandmother to Elizabeth, Ben, Malakai and Madelyn

Memorial calling hours in honor of Mary will be held 4:00 – 5:00 PM on Wednesday, April 1, 2026, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  A Memorial Service will follow at 5:00 PM to wish her a farewell.
