Mary Jane "Janie" Thompson, age 89, of Painesville Township, passed away on Friday, February 25, 2022, at Haven Home Assisted Living in Mentor.  She was born on January 31, 1933, in Lakewood, Ohio to Edward and Adeline Amiott.

She was a life-long member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville.

Janie was a graduate of the Andrews School for Girls in Willoughby, where she studied cosmetology.  She worked for many years at Be Lovely Beauty Salon in Painesville Township, and at Billie's Hair Salon in Painesville.  She also worked for Safick's Ice Cream & Candy Supply Shop.  She retired from the Lake County Recorder's Office in 1998.

Janie enjoyed baking and any occasion which allowed her large family to gather.

She is survived by her daughter, Linda (Bill) Lambert of Concord Township, and by her sons, Robert (Laurie) of Chardon, Mark (Debbie) of Painesville Township, Dave of Mentor on the Lake, Bill (Danielle) of Painesville Township and Scott (Kathleen) of Concord Township; sister, Carolyn LeBlanc of Painesville; brother, Donald (Barbara) Amiott of Sebring, Florida. She also leaves behind 15 grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 65 years, Robert; sister, Gloria Ihlenfield, brothers, George and Richard Amiott and her parents.

Janie's family would like to thank the staff at Haven Home and Miracle City Hospice for their loving and attentive care.

Calling hours will be held from 2-5 p.m. on Sunday, March 6, 2022, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be held Monday, March 7th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville.  Burial will be held at Williams Cemetery in Leroy Township.
