Mary E. (Wright) Wilson, age 93, passed away June 21, 2024, at her residence in Painesville.
She was born March 23, 1931, in Milstead (suburb of Tuskeege), Alabama to Fred and Mary (Peterson) Wright.
Mary worked at several area nursing homes and home health care agencies: Around The Clock, Homestead II, Cerrie's Nursing Home, The Gables…Also Grantham Inc. and Endura Plastics.
She was a member and Deaconess at the St. John Baptist Church, Painesville, Ohio for over 60 years.
She enjoyed cooking, camping and fishing with her family.
While attending middle school in Tuskegee, Alabama, Mary was chosen from all the students to present former First Lady Eleanor Roosevelt with a bouquet of roses during her tour of the city.
Mary is survived by her son, Kenneth Wilson; daughter, Trudy Wilson-Haynes; sister, Henrietta (Charles) Brown; grandchildren, Kenneth (Michelle) Wilson II, Isaac Simmons, Erin Nakisha (Corey) Wilson, Kenya (Jone) Gerediaga-Simmons; great grandchildren, Lily Wilson, India Nicole Gerediaga-Simmons,
Kenneth Wilson III, Carter Wilson, Ekai Louis Gerediaga-Simmons, and Colson Wilson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Buford Wilson; her parents; brothers, Fred Wright and Willie Wright; sisters, Barbara Jean Wright, Mary Merriweather and Jeannette Walling.
Family and friends will be received 4:00 PM--5:00 PM, Sunday, July 7, 2024, at St. John Baptist Church, 361 West Jackson Street, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral Services will immediately follow at 5:00 PM. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery.
