Services for Mathew D. Patrick age 38 of Painesville will be 6:00 PM Wednesday,  February 1, 2017 at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Family and friends will be received from 4-6 PM Wednesday at the funeral home. Burial will be at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville on Thursday.

Mathew was born on December 4, 1978 in Willoughby Ohio and passed away January 28, 2017 at the Cleveland Clinic Hospital. Mathew was a chef, esteemed coworker and loving caregiver at Small Hands Big Dreams.  He was an animal lover, adored the Christmas season, and was an avid event planner. He helped those in need with a selfless heart, and family and friends meant the world to him. Mathew could light up a room with his laughter and inexhaustible energy.

He is survived by his mother Victoria (Carlos) Espinosa; longtime life partner Ernest Waldo; sisters, Holly Patrick, Carlita Espinosa, Tionya Espinosa, Marcellina Espinosa and Shayleh Pettit; and by his adoptive parents, Marty and Lynda McCafferty.

He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews, and countless friends.

He was preceded in death by his father David Patrick; brothers, Jonathon Patrick and Sean McCafferty
