Obituary

A Celebration of Life for Melvin G. LaForce, age 66, will be held on Friday, December 16, 2022, at 1:00PM at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home (667 Mentor Ave.) in Painesville. Family and friends may call from 11:00AM until 1:00PM on Friday at the funeral home.

Melvin was the son of Grady and Minerva (Stapleton) LaForce, born on March 6, 1956, and passed away December 4, 2022, at his home in Painesville.

Melvin attended Harvey High School before entering the Marines prior to starting his life-long career in construction. He worked for Short Concrete and Baker Construction for many years. He was an outdoorsman and took on an adventure any chance he had. As an innovative thinker, he acquired the nickname "MacGyver Mel." A collector of many things, Melvin spent most of his time in retirement building different gadgets and riding "Baby" his '02 Harley Davidson, which was his pride and joy. Melvin was a friend to many.

Melvin is survived by his daughters Heather King, Leeann "Leelee" King, and son, Beecher LaForce; Grandchildren Gavin King, Marissa Allen, Bryson LaForce and Ryan King; Great-grandchildren Trevor King Jr., and Gavin King Jr.; Sisters Joyce Roesler, Mary Ann (Roger) McGinnis, and Carol (Donal Rex) Woodard. He also leaves behind many cousins, nieces, and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Minerva and Grady LaForce and his grandson Trevor King Sr.
