Mettie M. Thayer, age 94, passed away March 30, 2021 at Homestead II Nursing Home in Painesville.  She was born January 10, 1927 in Gilmer, West Virginia to John and Ratie (Wilson) Harris.

Mettie worked for the Ohio Rubber Company for many years, retiring in 1989.  She was an avid reader, loved country music, camping, and cooking for her family.

She is survived by her children, Gary Thayer (Lora Koons), Mettie O'Brien, Loretta Smith, Victoria (Edward) Jones, Cindy (Rick) Scoville and Larry (Gail) Thayer; fourteen grandchildren, and numerous great grandchildren.

Mettie was preceded in death by her husband, James Thayer; her parents, three brothers, one sister and two grandchildren.

Funeral services will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, April 2, 2021 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Friends will be received from 4:00-6:00 PM, Thursday, April 1st at the funeral home.  Burial will be in Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
