Michael D.
Snell
April 30, 1951 – April 13, 2026
Michael D. Snell, 74, of Painesville, Ohio, passed away peacefully on April 13, 2026, surrounded by his family.
Born in Painesville to Winifred (Cobb) Snell and Delbert Snell, Mike spent his life deeply rooted in the community he loved. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 42 years, Martha (Burr) Snell; and his parents, Winifred (Cobb) Snell and Delbert Snell.
He was a proud father to Matthew (Michelle) Lanzi of Perry, Ohio; Nick Lanzi of Painesville, Ohio; and Eric (Adelina) Snell of West Palm Beach, Florida, and a loving grandfather to Gianna Lanzi, Logan Snell, and Sophia Snell. He is also survived by his brother, Roger Snell of Phoenix, Arizona.
After completing trade school, Mike built a lifelong career in machining, spending the majority of his years in the tool and die industry. He took great pride in his work, including many years as a business owner. He retired in 2019, leaving behind a legacy of hard work, craftsmanship, and dedication.
Mike had a deep love for golf, spending countless hours at his home away from home, Painesville Country Club, where he built many lasting friendships. He also enjoyed boating on Lake Erie, reading, woodworking, working on model sets, listening to music, traveling to Florida, watching television, and—later in life—discovering a true passion for painting. Above all, he cherished time spent with his grandchildren.
He was an avid Cleveland sports fan and especially loved attending Cleveland Cavaliers games. Known for his sense of humor, Mike was always joking and found great joy in making others laugh. His warmth, wit, and steady presence will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
Mike's cremated remains will be interred at a private graveside service, followed by a celebration of his life at Painesville Country Club on June 19th.
His legacy lives on through the family he loved so deeply.
