Mass of Christian Burial for Nicholas Henry Evangelista will 9:30 AM, Thursday, April 20th at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. Family and friends may call 4:00-8:00 PM Wednesday at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery.
Born August 27, 1927 in Painesville, Nicholas passed away April 14, 2017 at his residence in Painesville.
Nicholas served in the U. S. Navy in the Pacific Theatre during WW II. He worked for Diamond Alkali for 29 years, retiring in 1976. He also worked for TRW – Eaton Corp – Argotech for 15 years. Nick was a member of St. Mary Church. He enjoyed spending time with his grandchildren. He could build or fix anything and loved "tinkering". He also enjoyed fishing.
He is survived by his wife of 70 years, Mary (Murphy) Evangelista; children, George (Janet), Edward (Pamela), Mike (Jackie), Bob, David (Sue), Francis (Georgina), Diane, Mark, Debbie (Tom) Wetmore, Nick (Fiance, Connie); brother, Jim (Beverly) Evangelista and sister, Margie DiFrain; 18 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.
Nick was preceded in death by his parents, Camillo & Julia (Iezzi) Evangelista and son, Joseph. Siblings, Frank Caruso, Angelo Caruso, Kaiser Caruso, Mary Francisco, Millie Preziuso, John Evangelista, and Dominic Evangelista.
