Obituary

Olga Eva Magdolna Takacs (nee Jákli), aged 83 of Painesville, passed away March 3, 2022, surrounded by her loving family.

Born October 26, 1938, in Borsosgyőr, Hungary to the late Istvan and Marcella (nee Neuperger) Jákli.   She emigrated from Hungary in 1956 with her brother (Mike Yakli), her husband Steven L. Takacs whom she married in Painesville and his brother Gustave Takacs.  They journeyed to this country for a life that offered freedom and opportunity.  They proudly became US Citizens, learned the English language, and worked every day until retirement.  Over the years, between raising her children, Olga worked in the early 1960's at Gary Allan, Rayon Corp; late in the 1970's at APSCO (TT Electronics).  Her family was her love.  She was "Anyu" to her 3 children, Nagymama (Mama) to her 7 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.

She was a devoted member of St. Gabriel's Church, Concord for over 55 years and previously at St. Anthony's of Padua in Fairport Harbor.  Olga was a remarkable cook and baker, and kept her family well fed.  Her chicken paprikash (along with all her other Hungarian dishes) was second to none; and her delicious homemade pastries will truly be missed.  She loved gardening and grew the most beautiful roses and geraniums.  Proud of her Hungarian heritage she would attend as many Hungarian Folk Festival & Dances as possible.  She was compassionate, patient, and friendly to everyone she met.  She continually contributed to several charitable organizations.  She was also an avid Cleveland football fan.

Olga is survived by her husband of 66 years, Steven L. Takacs, her brother Mike (Helen) Yakli; dearest mother of Susanne (Robert) Schuster, Steven L. Takacs, Jr. and Zoltan (Starla) Takacs; beloved grandmother of Alexis (Stephen) Rinehart, Courtney (Kim Preto) Schuster, Corbin (fiancée Amanda McGill) Schuster, Taylor (fiancée Melanie Rositani) Schuster; Zachary, Chloe and Drew Takacs; and her darling great-grandchildren, Joseph Redden Jr, Liliana Rinehart, Vander Rinehart and Owen McGill. She is also survived by nephews Michael Yakli and Joseph (Sheila) Yakli and several nieces and nephews in Hungary, Norway and Austria.

She was preceded in death by her sister, Mary and brothers Ernest and Tibor all of Hungary.

Family will receive friends to pay tribute to and celebrate the life of Olga Wednesday, March 9, 2022 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville from 9:30 – 11:00 AM, followed by a Catholic Funeral Mass at St. Gabriel's Church, Concord at 11:30 AM.  Interment will be at St. Mary's Cemetery, Painesville.
