Richard Paul Smith, age 79, passed away February 21, 2022, at his residence in Hambden surrounded by his family.  He was born December 7, 1942, in Dayton, Pennsylvania to James Robert and Gladys (Schrecengost) Smith.

He graduated from Dayton High School (Dayton, PA.) Class of 1960 and worked at General Motors for over 34 ½ years as a tool and die maker before retiring in 1997.

Richard enjoyed woodworking, traveling, watching Cleveland sports and spending time with his family.

He is survived by his wife of 44 years, Carol (Gebeau) Haak; children, Natalie (Michael) Koritansky of Painesville, Melissa Smith of Willoughby; grandson, Jonathan Koritansky; stepchildren, Jeannie Kemp of Kentucky and John (Kim) Haak of Tennessee and their children and grandchildren; and brother, Donald (Marge) Smith of Naples, FL.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents.

The family will receive friends 2:00 until 3:30 PM Saturday February 26th at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.  Funeral Services will be held Saturday at 3:30 PM at the funeral home.

Memorial contributions may be made in his name to one of these organizations that has supported his grandson through the years:  Youth Group at Hambden Congregational Church, the Riverside Band Boosters or the Riverside Theater Department.
