Funeral Services for Richard (Dick) Sturm 92 years old, will be 11:00 am Saturday at Mentor United Methodist Church 8600 Mentor Ave. Mentor, OH 44060. Friends will be received from 2-4 & 6-8 pm Friday at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville, OH. Dick was born April 3, 1923 in Fairport Harbor to Marie (Ramer) and John Sturm. He was married to Doris (Wilson) for 68 years. In school he became an Eagle Scout and was in DeMolays. He graduated from Harding High in Fairport Harbor in 1941. He served during WWII in the Army Aircorp from 1943 to 1946 in the CBI Theater. After the Army he graduated from Hiram College in 1950 with a degree in science and education. He taught 6th grade at Shore Elementary from 1951 to 1956. He then went to work at Diamond Alkali and at the Electrode division where he worked in soda ash, plastics and new product development. He was a leader in the community. He taught Sunday school and was a Boy Scout and Indian Guide leader. He also held many leadership roles in multiple community church, and barbership organizations. After retiring from the Diamond in 1982 he was a realtor for Century 21 and then settled in to a woodworking job at Bodi's Barn. He and Doris traveled the US and world extensively for many years. He was a member of the Johnnycake Ridge barbershop Chorus for over 50 years. He also traveled with the JABS singers chorus and sang in quartets in Music Man and Fiddler on the Roof to name a few. Dick had many hobbies including gardening and wood carving. He will be remembered for all the many memorable camping trips, family vacations and other family outings. He is survived by his brother Jack (Barbara) Sturm from Paducah, KY, his wife Doris (Wilson) Sturm his children, Kathy (Frank) Fatica, Sue (Dave) Wolf, Richard Jr (Teresa) Sturm, Becky (Rick) Johnson. He is also survived by 5 adoring grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren, and 1 great great grandchild, and numerous nieces, nephews and brother and sister in-laws. He is preceded in death by his father and mother and step father (Walter Ronk) and granddaughter Sarah Fatica. Interment will be in Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville
