Services for Robert G. LaFortune, age 84, of Geneva, will be Friday at 8:00 PM at the Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.  Family and friends may call from 6:00 to 8:00 PM on Friday.

Robert was born February 27, 1932 in Edmonton, Alberta, Canada and passed away November 29, 2016 at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland.

Robert was a graduate of the Haileybury Provincial Institute of Mining in 1959 and was 17th in his class.  He was certified by the Professional Engineers of Ontario as an Engineering Tech. Grade 3. In 1964 he moved here from Canada.  He worked for Diamond Alkali in charge of the brine fields and moved to Houston Texas with the Diamond until 1984.  He retired from the Diamond in 1988.  He enjoyed reading and woodworking.

Robert is survived by his wife Deborah (Kallay) LaFortune whom he married January 1, 1977; Son, Glen (Joanna) LaFortune; Grandchildren Gabriel and Becca; Brother, John LaFortune; Sisters, Lolita Sparks, Frances Taylor and Marie Tottrup.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Edouard and Rose (Belley) LaFortune.
