Robert John Swatowski, 75, of Mentor passed away Monday December 29, 2014 at Hospice House of the Western Reserve in Cleveland. Mass of Christian Burial will be at 9:30 am, Monday January 5, 2015 at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church 8540 Mentor Ave. Mentor OH 44077 Visitation will be on Sunday, January 4, 2015 from 1:00pm-5:00pm at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. He was born September 5, 1939 in Painesville to Paul and Mary Swatowski. Robert (Bob) retired from Ohio Bell Phone Company after 33 years and an officer of Painesville Police Department for 40 years. He enjoyed working at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home after his retirement. He was a United States Navy veteran and served on the Destroyer the USS Vance. Bob enjoyed hunting, his antique cars, and traveling to his cottage in Michigan. Spending time with his family and his five beautiful grandchildren was his most favorite. Bob loved to make people laugh and smile with his great sense of humor. Bob belonged to the Ohio Bell Telephone Pioneers, F.O.P, and the B.P.O.E #549. He was an usher for his church at St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church. He is survived by his wife of 47 years, Bonnie (Butterfield) of Mentor, daughters Anne Marie (Mark) Persiani, Roberta (Jeff) Simpkins, and Diane Swatowski: five grandchildren David, Lou, Will, Allison, and Thomas. He also leaves his sisters Elsie (Oress), Marcella (Horvath), Sylvia (Lindrose), and Paulette (Casebeer) and sister in law Doris Swatowski. He was preceeded in death by his parents Paul and Mary (Horvath) Swatowski, sister Rosemary Oress and brother Carl Swatowski. Interment will be in the Mentor Municipal Cemetery in Mentor.
