Robert J. "Rusty" Townsend, a lifetime Lake County resident, passed away, April 13, 2017 at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby.  He was born January 20, 1957 in Painesville.

Rusty was known as a nice guy who had many friends, enjoyed people and conversation.  He was a machinist, liked working on cars and could fix anything.

"The light that burns twice as bright burns half as long."

He is survived by his children, Rob, Dustin, and Alex; brother, Jerold "Tom" (Linda) Townsend of Madison; sister, Dinah Townsend of Mentor.

Rusty was preceded in death by his daughter, Jennifer; parents, Robert G. and Joyce L. (Kirkland) Townsend.
