Funeral services for Roy David Nelson, age 91, will be 11:00 am Tuesday September 6, 2016 at Leroy Community Chapel 12920 Painesville-Warren Road, Leroy where family and friends will be received from 9:00 am to time of services.

A Concord Twp. Resident, Roy was born on February 9, 1925 in Memphis, TN., and passed away peacefully at his residence with his family at his side on August 29, 2016. Mr. Nelson was graduated from Bob Jones University in Greenville, SC with a divinity degree. He joined the United World Missions and served 12 yrs. As a missionary in Cuba and 36 yrs. in Guatemala in Central America.

Roy was a member of the Leroy Community Chapel and enjoyed preaching and singing.

He is survived by,

Wife, Ethel (Stockdale) Nelson, whom he married on November 5, 1948

Sons, David (Cony) Nelson of Guatemala City and Phillip (Marianne) Nelson of Dallas, TX;

Seven Grandchildren and Five Great Grandchildren; Siblings, Jimmy (Kitty) Nelson of Memphis, TN; and Lenora Fritz of Atlanta, GA; Sister-in-Law, Eda Vae Nelson of Memphis.

Preceded in death by, Parents, Marion P. and Angelina (Barrasso) Nelson, Sr. and siblings, Marion P. Nelson, Jr.; Eugene Nelson; Howard Mullins; and Lucille Sides.

Interment will be at Western Reserve Memorial Gardens in Chesterland.
