Rudy A. Kessler, age 95, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, Sept. 29, 2015. He was born in Leroy and lived in Painesville his entire life. He served in World War II with the 315 Infantry Division, G Company as a mortar carrier. He received the Purple Heart for his service. Rudy worked for Union Sand and Supply Co. for 23 yrs. before retiring in 1968. Rudy was well loved by all who knew him. He was a wonderful Husband, Father, Grandfather, Great Grandfather, and Great-Great Grandfather.
He loved telling jokes and making people laugh. He was a true friend to all and "handyman" of the neighborhood. He enjoyed keeping active and helping people. He sang with the Painesville Men's Chores and was a lifetime member of the DAV Western Reserve Chapter # 42 .
He is survived by, Wife of 74 yrs., Helen (McManus) Kessler Children, Rudy J. Kessler of Painesville, Darlene (Bob) Fleming of Painesville, and Becky (Steve) Wellman of Mentor. Grandchildren, James (Stacie) Fleming of Springfield, Missouri, Julie Sevel of Willoughby, Tony (Stacie) Wellman of Mentor, Michele Wellman of Mentor, and James Michael Kelly of Louisiana. 12 Great Grandchildren and 4 Great-Great also survive
Services will be Friday at 12:00 pm at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville Ohio 44077 family and friends may call from 11:00 until 12:00 Friday at the funeral home. Burial will be in Riverside Cemetery Painesville
In Lieu of flowers contributions may be made to the Lake County Humane Society or DAV Western Reserve Chapter # 42 .
