Memorial services for Sandra M. Refe, age 68, will be at 10:00 am Monday, Dec. 14, 2015, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 521 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, OH. A lifetime resident of Painesville, Sandra died on Dec. 8, 2015, at Kindred LakeMed in Painesville. Born in 1947, she was the daughter of Anthony and Carla Refe in Painesville.

Sandy attended St. Mary Elementary School, was a 1965 graduate of Thomas W. Harvey High School, and received a BS in Education (1969) and a MEd (1971) from Kent State University. She was a retired first grade teacher at Fairfax Elementary School in the Mentor.

Ms. Refe was a Martha Holden Jennings scholar (1987-88), recipient of the Martha Holden Jennings Master Teacher award (1988), the Mentor Teacher of the Year (1988-89), and the Mentor Schools Excellence in Teaching award. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma.

She was preceded in death by her parents and is survived by her sister, Susan (William Alto), niece, Letizia (Kenji Asakura), and nephew, William, all of Seattle, Washington.

Burial will be in St. Mary Cemetery in Painesville immediately following the reception at the church.
