Saundra Kay “Sandy” Cardina, of Painesville, Ohio, was born on April 30, 1946, to James McCue and Laura (Bellumori) McCue. Sandy was the oldest of three children and shared a special bond with her siblings, Carol and Barry.

Sandy grew up in Painesville and graduated from Harvey High School in the class of 1964, where she met her high school sweetheart, Joseph “Joey” Cardina. The two married and began their life together with a honeymoon in the Pocono Mountains of Pennsylvania. They went on to build a loving family and a lifetime of cherished memories. where they shared 53 years of marriage.

Before starting her family with Joey, Sandy worked for the Painesville school system. She then devoted herself to being a stay-at-home mother, raising her children and creating a warm, loving home.

Later in life, Sandy moved to Scottsdale, Arizona, where she began a long career in the medical field. She worked for a dermatologist for more than 30 years before returning to Painesville, Ohio, where she later retired. Of all Sandy’s accomplishments, nothing meant more to her than her family. Her family was her world, her greatest pride, and her greatest joy. She was a wonderful mother, a devoted grandmother and great-grandmother, and friend. the kind of person who would go out of her way to help anyone at any time. She also cared deeply for her many nieces and nephews. Most of her kid’s friends would call her Mrs. C., her home was their home too.

Sandy enjoyed shopping, baking, sports of any kind, reading, watching Hallmark movies, listening to live bands, the beach, Christmas time, and traveling. She especially treasured making memories with the people she loved. She enjoyed visiting the Carolinas to spend time with her sister, Carol, and the two shared a love of traveling together. Their frequent trips to Myrtle Beach became a special tradition and created memories that would last a lifetime, Sandy found joy in life’s simple pleasures and in sharing them with those she loved. Those who knew Sandy will remember her for her generous heart, her devotion to her family, and her willingness to be there for anyone who needed her. She expressed her love not only through words, but also through the countless thoughtful things she did for the people around her.

Sandy was the loving mother of Philip, (Kristen) Cardina Chardon, OH, Christopher Cardina Mentor, OH, and Tracey Cardina (Scott Timbrook) Mentor, OH

She was the proud grandmother of Blakely Cardina, Brett Zupon, Bradley, (Kelsey) Cardina, Michael Cardina, Sarah, (Shawn) Mackey, Eric Cardina, Preston Cardina, and Kaelyn Cardina. She was also the cherished great-grandmother of Amelia, Callum, and Lennon.

She is also survived by Her brother, Barry (Judy) McCue; her sister-in-law, Connie Cardina-West; and her cousin, Darlene Brunetti, whom she cared for and loved deeply.

Sandy’s greatest legacy is the family she loved so deeply. The memories she created, the traditions she began, and the love she gave so freely will live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and everyone fortunate enough to have known and loved her.

Sandy was preceded in death by her husband, Joseph “Joey” Cardina; her beloved and cherished Grandson, Blakely Cardina; her parents, James and Laura McCue; her beloved grandparents, Ivo and Elide Bellumori, who came from Italy and held a very special place in her heart. Sandy treasured the times she spent with her grandparents and carried those memories with her throughout her life; her beloved sister and best friend, Carol Banker; her brother-in-law, Conard Banker, her mother-in-law, Nancy (Vendetti) Cardina; her brother- in-law Devon “Dee” West.

She was deeply loved, and she will be deeply missed.

Friends will be received 4:00 – 8:00 PM, on Monday, September 28, 2026, at Spear Mulqueey Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Mass of Christian Burial will be 11:00 AM, Tuesday, September 29th at St. Bede’s Catholic Church, 9114 Lakeshore Blvd., Mentor, Ohio.
