Obituary

Scotty Baise, 45, of Chicago, Illinois, passed away on September 30, 2026.

Born in Painesville, Ohio, on November 10, 1980, Scotty had many places he called home over the years. These included his first home in Painesville, Columbus, and finally his new favorite place, Chicago.

Scotty had been a Christian all his life. He loved going to church, listening to gospel music, as well as having his quiet moments he would call TAWG, or Time Alone with God, where he would pray and read his Bible. Scotty loved the Lord and always tried to discern where God was calling him and once he did - he responded and followed. Later in life, Scotty joined the Catholic Church in 2022. When he first joined, he attended Our Lady of Peace in Cleveland, and most recently, he was a part of AGLO Ministries and attended Old St. Mary's Catholic Church in Chicago.

One of Scotty's favorite times of the year was Christmas. He deeply loved what Christmas meant, both religiously and secularly. He enjoyed going out to see Christmas lights, attending Midnight Mass or other Christmas Eve and Day services, and being with family. For many years, he texted family and friends on the 25th of each month to let them know how many months were left until Christmas. Recently, he joined a Facebook group where his countdown became a daily post, reminding everyone just how many days were left until December 25th.

Scotty graduated from Riverside High School in 2000. During his time there, he was a member of the choir and the Riverside Regiment Marching Band. He held onto many fond memories of his classmates and educators, and in the years following his graduation, he enjoyed returning to volunteer his time with the marching band.

Scotty quite enjoyed playing the drums but also is also remembered for playing the tambourine

Scotty had many careers over the years, which included transportation-most recently driving for Uber, as well as school buses and over-the-road truck driving. Some of his most notable careers were working for Lake East Hospital, Burger King, and both the Painesville City and Columbus City School Districts.

Outside of work, he loved bowling and baseball. He was an avid fan of both the Cleveland Guardians and the Chicago Cubs-interests he shared with many members of his family. Scotty also had quite the sense of humor, much like his mother, Darlene. He loved joking around with people and truly had a contagious laugh. Scotty was also something of a foodie who enjoyed penne alfredo, a Whopper from Burger King, and Cleveland-area favorites like Gionino's Pizza and Mr. Hero.

Throughout his life, he could often be seen enjoying his favorite soft drink, Pepsi.

After the passing of Darlene and Brian, Scotty became something of a father figure to his younger brothers, Todd and Derek. Learning to navigate life without parents was not an easy task, but his brothers certainly appreiated when he moved back home to become head of the household.

Scotty leaves behind many friends and family members including his brothers, Todd Dickinson (Shaun Pirman) and Derek Dickinson; his cousins, Jade McCauley and Crystal (Paul)Ferguson-Goble and family; and uncle Rocky McCauley. He was preceded in death by his parents, Darlene (Brian) Dickinson, and Carl Baise; his grandparents, Ruby McCauley, Theodore Roosevelt Baise, and Gertie Mae Baise; and his siblings, Carl Jr., Brad, and Judy.

A Memorial Service will be held on November 7, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Old St. Mary's Catholic Church, 1500 S Michigan Ave, Chicago, IL 60605. Scotty's final resting place will be alongside his mother, stepfather, and grandmother at Riverside Cemetery in Painesville, 0 H.

Scotty's family would like to thank everyone for their kind words, prayers, and emotional support. This certainly was unexpected, and it is expected we will all grieve for some time. In remembrance of Scotty, please recall a song he so enjoyed, "Old Friends" by Bill Gaither.
