November 30, 1932 – July 19, 2023
Steven L. Takacs, age 90, passed away suddenly on July 19, 2023, at Lake West Medical Center in Willoughby surrounded by his family. He was born November 30, 1932, in Kohfidisch (Gyepűfüzes), Austria to Lajos and Erzsébet (Marakovits) Takács.
At fourteen Steven's family moved to Hungary. He later immigrated to the United States in 1956 with his future wife (Olga Jákli), his brother Gustave and brother-in-law Michael.
Steve was a tool and die maker and worked for the Dyson Corporation for many years.
He enjoyed reading, watching Westerns and talking about politics; he was a fan of sports especially soccer which he played in his youth. He enjoyed watching Hungarian television shows, and loved tinkering with watches, calculators, radios – most anything that he could take apart. He would play the harmonica endlessly. His greatest joy were his seven grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.
He was proud of his US citizenship, he learned to speak, read and write the language while remaining true to his Hungarian heritage. Each year he attended Hungarian festivals throughout Ohio. He visited Hungary several times over the years to visit family.
Steven is survived by his sons, Steven L. Takacs, Jr. and Zoltan (Starla) Takacs; daughter, Susanne (Robert) Schuster; brother, Gustave Takacs, grandchildren, Alexis (Stephen) Rinehart, Courtney Schuster, Corbin (fiancée Amanda McGill) Schuster, Taylor Schuster(Melanie), Zachary Takacs, Chloe Takacs and Drew Takacs; great grandchildren, Joseph Redden Jr., Lilliana Rinehart, Vander Rinehart and Owen McGill.
