Thomas A. Lipps of Concord Twp., OH passed away on August 16, 2015 following a brief illness. Born March 2, 1948 in Cleveland, OH, Tom was the son of Albert E. and Gertrude (nee Meaney) Lipps. He graduated of Perry High School, Class of 1966, and the University of Notre Dame, class of 1970. After graduating college, he taught music at Muskegon Catholic High in Michigan and Lenox Academy in Lenox, MA. Upon his return to Ohio, Tom worked as an insurance adjuster. He returned to teaching for a few years at NDCL in Chardon before retiring. Over the years, Tom enjoyed coaching YMCA soccer, reading, model train building, and singing in the church choirs and nursing homes. He was notorious for eliciting many chuckles and groans with his jokes, especially at the expense of his fellow Irishmen. He was a past president of Lake-Geauga Serra Club and former member of SPEBSQSA in which he sang tenor in Barbershop Quartets. Tom is survived by his wife, Marietta whom he married on July26, 1975 Children, Thomas (Sarah Stroh) of Las Vegas, NV. Marianne (Christopher) De Angelus of Somerville, MA Krista of Concord Grandchildren, Kian DeAngelus, Noah, Evan and Annalise Lipps. He is also survived his sister Mary Jo (Karl) Steiner of Bath, ME and many nephews and nieces, cousins, and friends. Tom was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Gertrude, step-father Michael Trannett, and infant brother. Friends may call on Wednesday from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave Painesville. Funeral Mass will be celebrated at St. Anthony Church 521 Plum St. Fairport Harbor on Thursday, August 20 at 11:00. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the Lake Geauga Serra Club, American Heart Association, St. Anthony Parish, or the music department of your local School.
