A Service of Remembrance for Walter M. Nelson, Jr., age 79, of Painesville, OH be Saturday, October 5, 2019 at 11:30 AM at the Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Ave. Painesville. Family and friends may call Saturday from 9:30-11:30 AM at the funeral home. Burial will take place at Mentor Cemetery.

Walter was the son of Walter & Doris (Willert) Nelson, Sr. born on July 16, 1940 in Buffalo New York and passed away September 30, 2019 at his home.

Walter was a High School teacher at Willoughby-Eastlake, retiring in 2003 from South High. He was a 44-year member of Alcoholics Anonymous. He enjoyed driving and visited all 48 states in the Continental United States, preferably in Cadillacs or Corvettes. He enjoyed old cars and Lionel trains, as well as playing guitar and singing.

He is survived by his sons; Christopher Nelson, John Nelson, and Paul Nelson (Paul's mother, Denise Pizzi); grandchildren Maxix, Victor, Ace, Sophia, Luke and Lily; and brother, Bill (Toni) Nelson.

He was preceded in death by his parents, sister, Judy Brown and former wife, Susan D. Nelson

Donations can be made to the Nelson Grandkids College Fund, care of the family, or in lieu of that, directly to AA or someone in need.
