Obituary

Wayne Stuart Horton, 70, passed away peacefully at his home on January 13, 2025. Born on March 8, 1954, in Painesville, Ohio, he was the son of the late Harold Harper Horton and Ruth Horton.

Wayne was a devoted husband to his beloved wife, Kerry Horton, and a cherished father to Sarah (Abdel) Moukhliss and Elizabeth (Philip) Palichat. He was also a proud grandfather to Nora, Salma, Liam, and Mila. Wayne worked hard to ensure his children received a college education. He taught his children the importance of hard work and perseverance.

Wayne was proud to be an American Veteran. An entrepreneur at heart, Wayne was a talented carpenter and property manager who took great pride in his work. He had a deep connection to the land and found joy in tending to his cattle and sheep. Wayne's love for nature extended to boating, fishing, camping, and spending time outdoors. He also had a passion for attending fairs as an exhibitor and treasured the camaraderie of his close-knit circle of friends. To those fortunate enough to be part of his "tribe," Wayne's loyalty and affection were unwavering.

Wayne's life was defined by his dedication to family, his craftsmanship, and his appreciation for life's simple pleasures. Wayne loved to share stories about his grandchildren and took pride in Nora's accomplishments in college, Salma's love for swimming, Liam's joy for hockey, and Mila's love for ice skating and baking. Recently, he became the caregiver of his greatest love, Kerry. He woke up every day with optimism and gratitude.

Although the family is deeply hurting, they feel solace that he has reunited with his beloved parents and that he is catching up for all the years lost with his mother, Ruth, in Heaven. Hopefully looking down knowing that everything will be ok. And that what he instilled has been passed down to the next generations. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew him.

May his legacy bring comfort to all who mourn his passing.
