Obituary

William R. "Bill" Brooks, passed away peacefully on September 17, 2025.  He was born September 11, 1939, in West Virginia before moving to Painesville Township in 1950.

Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather and great grandfather.  He worked as a manager in the supermarket business for over 45 years, first with Pick-N-Pay, then Finast and finally Tops.  As a member of St. Gabriel Parish, Bill gave much of his time with the Heavenly Dusters and the St. Gabriel's Food Bank.  He also volunteered with Habitat for Humanity.

Bill is survived by his sons, Kevin (Dawn) Brooks, Keith Brooks, Kyle (Christine) Brooks, Kirt (Leigh Ann) Brooks and Kregg (Diane) Brooks.  He is the grandfather of Jessica, Tiffany (Matt), Kimberly (David), Evers, Genevieve, Hugo and Tallulah; as well as great-grandfather of Corinne, Devin, Gabby and William.  Bill is also survived by his brother John Brooks, and by sisters-in-law, brothers-in-law, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Jean (Rigby) Brooks in 2017; his parents, Robert and Beulah Brooks; sisters, Janet and Sandra; brother, Richard, and daughter-in-law, Becky.

Friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, September 22, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 AM, Tuesday, September 23rd at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9925 Johnnycake Ridge Road, Concord Township.  Burial will be at Mentor Cemetery.
