Obituary


William S. Rogers, also known as Sam in his earlier days, age 91, passed away June 12, 2026, at Grand River Health and Rehab Center in Painesville, Ohio. He was born at home on Brakeman Road November 5th, 1934, in Leroy Township to Clifford and Dorthy (Nash) Rogers.

After graduating from Harvey High School in Painesville, He worked for several years at the Diamond Alkali Company in Fairport. During the 60’s, he worked for several companies including Fuller Brush Company, Morton Salt Company, Lindsay Wire Company, Fisher Body, and Case Western Reserve. Often while working 2 jobs, he managed to attend Chandler Technical School, which later became Lakeland Community College, and received certification in data processing.

Bill worked for the Eaton Telecomputer Center in Eastlake. He was 32 years old when he started with the company on November 13th, 1967. He was hired as a Computer Operator/Programmer at $525 per month. There were many years of perfect attendance awards. This in-part because he would ride his motorcycle with the sidecar to work in the winter snowstorms.

There were many group trips with the Eaton Family that were planned by Lennie Besednik for white water rafting and golfing. Primarily Golfing. He belonged to Pleasant Hills Golf Course and had many friends over the years. Bill was also devoted to working for and volunteering for the North Coast Juniors Tournaments. Well over 25 years he helped with that. He was also able to recognize the names of the kids that advanced to amateur and professional from these tournaments.

When he was 55, he was fortunate enough to be able to take and enjoy an early retirement. Thus, the beginning of the year of the VAN.

He enjoyed roller skating, riding his Harley Davidson motorcycle, and playing golf anywhere and at any time of the year. He will be remembered for his mutton chops, motorcycle riding, and his laid back fun personality.

William is survived by his Son, William Rogers, Daughter, Cynthia Rogers. His niece Sandra Rogers. Extended Family include: Cyndi and Rusty Bradley, Nicole Rasmussen, Holly Hays, Drake, and Savanna Rasmussen.

He was preceded in death by his Mother, Dorothy Wayner (Rogers), Father, Clifford Rogers, Brother, Donald Rogers and his longtime partner Susan Smith who passed on January 14th 2026.

Friends and Family will be received Friday June 19th 2026, from 4:00PM-7:00PM at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Ave, Painesville, OH, 44077.

Funeral Services will be Saturday June 20th, at 10:00AM at the funeral home.

Burial will be at Hambden Cemetery, 9891 Old State Road, Chardon, Ohio 44024 immediately following the funeral service.
