"Zak" Zinn
June 26, 1953 – January 21, 2022
William Mark "Zak" Zinn, age 68, passed away January 21, 2022 in Painesville Township. He was born June 26, 1953 in Painesville to James Franklin and Jane Ann (Jenkins) Zinn.
Zak was a graduate of Riverside High School and Lake Erie College. He worked his way through college on the lake boats for Columbia Transportation, from 1972 until 1981. He began his newspaper career at the Cleveland Plain Dealer and retired after 31 years of service.
He was a member and volunteered at St. Mary Church in Painesville. He enjoyed playing cards at the Elks Lodge, B.P.O.E. 549 and the Knights of Columbus Council 947. He was an avid golfer and played in many different golf leagues.
Zak is survived by his daughters, Kathleen "Katie" Zinn of Painesville and Lori Zinn of Willoughby; sisters Suzanne Zinn (Tim) Fath; Diane Zinn (Dan) Eckert; brother Matthew J. (Kristie Fleming) Zinn; and many loving nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his loving wife of 32 years, Kay (Berwaldt) Zinn in 2010; his father, James in 1993; his mother, Jane Ann in 2018 and his brother Robert Scott Zinn in 2014.
Mass of Christian Burial for Zak will be 10:00 am, Wednesday, January 26, 2022 at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio. Friends will be received from 4:00 pm - 7:00 pm, Tuesday, January 25th at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville Burial will be in Evergreen Cemetery.
