Albert Jones Jr., age 81, passed away on March 15, 2026, at David Simpson Hospice House in Cleveland. He was born on June 30, 1944, in Saint Francisville, Louisiana, to Albert Jones Sr. and Sisley (Singleton) Jones.
Albert proudly served in the United States Army from 1965 to 1968. He later built a long and respected career as an HVAC engineer, working for 30 years at Lubrizol. In addition to his work there, he was a self-employed electrician and HVAC professional through his business, Albert’s Inc.
Albert was deeply committed to his community and his faith. He previously served as President of the NAACP from 2012-2023 and was a devoted member of St. John Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon, Trustee, and Sunday School Superintendent. He was known for his willingness to help others and could be called upon at any time, day or night; especially when someone had an HVAC problem. He could often be found at St. John Baptist Church working on projects to help keep the church running smoothly.
In his spare time, Albert enjoyed gardening, various mechanical projects, boating, fishing and grilling, particularly his famous ribs. He said that when he ran his rib stand at local events, the flavor chased all the other rib vendors out of town.
Albert is survived by his wife, Earnestine (Forte) Jones; his son from his first marriage (Ada), Albert “Butch” (Mary) Jones; and sisters: Patricia, Deborah, Cynthia, Sharon, and Alice. He is also survived by his grandchildren: Amir Jones, Hayden Means, and Taylor Jones.
He was preceded in death by his daughter, Tressa Jones, and his parents.
Friends will be received from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at First Church Congregational, 22 Liberty Street, Painesville, Ohio. Funeral services will immediately follow at 10:30 a.m., with burial to take place at Riverside Cemetery.
