Memorial services for Alice Catherine (Fletcher) Carter, age 94, will be held 10:00 AM. Saturday, August 14, 2021 at St. James Episcopal Church, 131 North State Street, Painesville, with inurnment at Mentor Municipal Cemetery. The Reverend Vanessa E.B. Clark will officiate.
Alice was born on February 8, 1926 in Erie, Pennsylvania, the daughter of Edwin Wilson Fletcher and Edith Catherine (Atkinson) Fletcher. She died on November 23, 2020 in Middlefield, Ohio.
Alice was a registered nurse, graduating from the Hamot Hospital School of Nursing in Erie, Pennsylvania, and the University of Pittsburgh. She had been employed by the Visiting Nurse Association in Erie, Pennsylvania, and the Veterans Administration Hospitals in Butler, Pennsylvania and Ann Arbor, Michigan. She retired in 1992 from Deepwood Industries. Alice belonged to St. James Episcopal Church in Painesville, Ohio, and was a member of The Order of the Daughters of the King.
She is survived by her daughters Marguerite Carter, Catherine Carter, and Ruth Maxon, and her sons Robert (Tracee Patterson) Carter, John Carter, and James Carter, grandchildren Michele, Robert, Timothy, Sarah, Andrew, Ian, Courtney, Nathan, Madeline, and William, and three great-grandchildren. Alice is also survived by her sister Sheila (Robin) Detweiler, and brothers Wilson (Darlene) Fletcher and Kenneth (Jean) Fletcher.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her brothers John Fletcher and Edwin Fletcher, and her sister Leonora Jost.
