Obituary

Anna Drew Archibald, 96, passed away March 7, 2023, at Hay-Madeira Hospice in Florida. She was born July 24, 1926, in Czechoslovakia to Steven and Anna (Wagner) Krajnak. She came to the United States with her family when she was 6, settling in West Virginia. In her late teens she moved to Painesville, where she resided for the most of her life, spending summers in Ohio and winters in Florida.

Anne was employed in her early years at IRC Fibers where she met Richard Drew. They were married in 1951 and had two children Richard and Mark. Anne and Richard were both bowling enthusiasts, which led them to managing Painesville Lanes and eventually owning B & V Recreation in Chardon.

In 1976 Anne was remarried to Arthur “Artie” Archibald a native of Florida and a decorated WWII Veteran. Artie was the founding member of VFW Post 4194 in Stuart. He served as the commander and Anne as the activity organizer and bartender. They were both separately Honorary Grand Marshals at the Veterans Day Parade in Stuart Florida. They were also dedicated life members of VFW Posts and American Legions across the Country and enjoyed traveling to as many as they could.

Anne was a beautiful singer and played multiple instruments including accordion, piano, trumpet, and harmonica. She was also a published songwriter in the 1950’s. Her hobbies included sewing, flea markets, playing cards, dancing, roller skating and knitting kitchen towels that she generously made for friends and family. She was an avid sports fan. She loved watching professional baseball and golf.

Annie, as most knew her, made friends wherever she went, she had a way to make anyone at ease, to feel as if you had been lifelong friends. She was always the life of the party, making people smile and laugh with her jokes.

She is loved by so many and will be deeply missed. Her best advice was, remember to believe, that I believe in you. She put up a courageous, valiant fight for the last 6 weeks of her life. Suffered through many procedures and setbacks, however her body was tired, and she was ready to go home. As a devout praying Catholic, she is now at peace with her Lord.

Anne is survived by her two sons Rick and Mark, grandchildren Jessica (Camron) Edwards, Jason (Rebecca) Drew. Great grandchildren, the light of her life, Emilee, Maddie, and Ella Marie, and numerous nieces, nephews, forever friends, Angie Smith, Dianne Wilke and Patty Dardis.
