Barbara Joan Resetar

Barbara Joan Resetar (née Mummey), age 87, passed away on October 24, 2025, at Hillcrest Hospital in Mayfield Heights, surrounded by her family. She was born on July 30, 1938, in Painesville, Ohio, to the late John H. and Evelyn (née Heer) Mummey.

Barbara was a 1956 graduate of Harvey High School in Painesville. She was a devoted homemaker before serving as Director of Religious Education at St. Gabriel Church and as Administrative Assistant at St. Noel Church. She was a faithful member of Immaculate Conception Church in Port Clinton, OH before relocating to St. Anthony of Padua Church in Fairport Harbor.

Barbara enjoyed cheering for Ohio State football, the Cleveland Guardians and Cavaliers, sailing on Lake Erie, and singing in the Messiah Chorus of Lake County. She especially loved attending her grandchildren’s activities and spending cherished time with family in Marblehead, Ohio, and the Lake Erie Islands.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 64 years, John A. “Jack” Resetar; daughter, Kathleen J. (Glen) Schwab of Davenport, IA; sons, Michael J. (Danya) Resetar of Centennial, CO, and Gregg A. (Lisa) Resetar of Painesville, OH; grandchildren, Meghan (Matt) Ross, Samuel (Shannin) Schwab, Chloe Schwab, Emmarie Resetar, Nicole Resetar, Lauren (Nick D’Angelo), and Taylor Resetar; great-grandchildren, Annalise Ross, Isabel Ross, and Eleanor Schwab. She was also a loving aunt to many nephews and nieces and a dear friend to many.

She was preceded in death by her parents and her only sibling, John H. Mummey Jr.

Family and friends will be received on Sunday, November 16, 2025, from 4:00 – 8:00 PM at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. A Memorial Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, November 17, at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 521 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor. Interment will follow at Riverside Cemetery, Painesville.
