Carmen Jean Jividen, age 86, passed away peacefully with family by her side at her residence in Painesville Township on June 18, 2021. She was born April 6, 1935, in Painesville to Filmeno and Mary (Scury) Rodriguez.
Carmen was a 1953 graduate of Riverside High School where she was a majorette and helped give the Beavers their mascot name. Carmen proudly worked for the Lake Hospital System, where she held administrative positions at both Lake West and Tripoint.
Carmen was a devoted member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville, where she sat in the same pew every Saturday for mass. In Carmen’s eyes, her family was her greatest gift from God. She would never have a conversation without mentioning how proud she was of her family, especially her grandchildren. This included but was not limited to attending her grandchildren’s hockey games, dance recitals and even live concerts performed by her grandson and his band.
Carmen had a pure and genuine love for animals of all shapes and sizes, most notably her dogs, birds and cats. Carmen’s love could also be found through every holiday, as an overabundance of gifts and homemade cookies adorned each family member.
Carmen was a season ticket holder to the Cleveland Browns where the tailgating was just as fun as the games. She was also a self-taught pianist, who saw value in education and appreciated quiet time with a good book.
She leaves behind her beloved pets. Carmen is survived by her son, Edward (Karen) Jividen; daughter, Sharon (Bill) Stange; grandchildren, Derek (Rachael) Jividen, Devon Jividen (Caitlyn) and Dakotah Stange (Adam), and sister Delores Juist.
She was preceded in death by her longtime companion and dear friend, Thomas Lindic in 2012, sisters, Annie Davidson and Agnes Wright, and both parents.
Mass of Christian Burial for Carmen will be held at 10:00 AM, Tuesday, June 22, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 PM – 7:00 PM on Monday, June 21st at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.
