Catherine "Kathy" Valerie (Palumbo) Bowers

Mass of Christian Burial for Catherine “Kathy” Valerie Bowers will be held 10:00 AM, Friday, July 24, 2020 at St. Mary Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville, Ohio. (Please meet at church) Friends will be received 4:00-7:00 PM, Thursday, July 23rd at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.

Catherine was born January 15, 1941 in Painesville to Charles and Catherine (Hambor) Palumbo.  She passed away July 21, 2020 at Holy Family Hospice in Parma. Catherine was a resident of Mayfield Heights.

Kathy was a 1958 graduate of Harvey High School. She then graduated in 1962 from the Nursing School at St. Joseph Hospital, Lorain. Kathy’s greatest passion was working in travel and tourism which gave her opportunities to go all over the world. She also worked for the Plain Dealer. Kathy was a life-long devoted member of St. Mary Church in Painesville and also attended St. Francis of Assisi Church in Gates Mills. In 1920 Kathy’s grandfather, James Palumbo, helped to start the Pompeii Society of which she eventually became the chairperson of.  Kathy was an active and vibrant lady, giving unconditionally to her family, friends and to both churches throughout her life.

Catherine is survived by her children, Theresa (Christopher) Cianciolo of Lyndhurst and Eric Bowers of Medina; grandchildren, Samantha and Joshua; brothers, Charles “Skeeter” Palumbo of Painesville and Conrad “Dutchy” (Barbara) Palumbo of Lancaster, Ohio.

She was preceded in death by her parents.
