Charles Franklin “Butch” Ferrell Sr. passed away May 6, 2025, in Painesville Township, Ohio. He was born April 30, 1945, in Earling, West Virginia to Charles Floyd Ferrell and Ella Mae (Myers) Ferrell.
Butch served in the United States Navy. He then went to work for SAS Rubber. He also worked for Millbrook Bread Co., Ohio Rubber Co., and Wal Mart. Butch enjoyed working at Wal Mart. He loved talking to everyone who came in the door. He also volunteered for the Salvation Army at Christmas time, manning the kettles.
Butch enjoyed watching and cheering for all the Cleveland sport teams and enjoyed watching wrestling. He was a big-time reader and especially liked word search puzzles. And he managed and coached a Little League team called the Twins for many years and enjoyed it very much. Both his sons played on his team.
Butch is survived by his wife, Bette (Smith) Ferrell; his children, Lisa Ferrell (Steve Hughes), Butch (Katlin) Ferrell Jr., Becky (John) Cumberledge and Scott Ferrell Sr.; thirteen grandchildren and seven great grandchildren; sister, Phyllis (Karen) Kippes; brother, James (Pete) Ferrell; and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles and Ella Ferrell; sisters, LorEllen Walker, Ruby (Jean) Soss, Sandra Lou Knee, Carolyn Frances Webster and Charlotte Penney Bryant; his in-laws, John and Jane Smith; and brother-in-law, John Smith.
Friends will be received 2:00 – 4:00 PM and 6:00 – 8:00 PM Tuesday, May 13, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.
A Celebration of Life will be held Saturday, May 17, 2025, at 12:00 PM at the Salvation Army, 69 Pearl Street, Painesville.
