Charles "Lee" Stitzel, age 77, passed away March 26, 2022, at Tri Point Medical Center in Concord Township. He was born January 31, 1945, in Painesville to Charles and Mary Jean (Thoirs) Stitzel.
Lee was a 1963 graduate of Harvey High School and served on their reunion committee. He was a member of St. Gabriel Catholic Church and was very devoted to his faith. He was active in the RCIA Program.
Lee was a District Sales Mgr. for Echlin Ignition for many years and had also been a UPS driver. He was an electrician, worked for Home Depot, and was a was a founding member of the Painesville Township Fire Department. Lee enjoyed meeting and having breakfast with other retired firemen, taking care of his lawn, playing games, and social media on Facebook. He was also very fond of his granddog, Maggie -Leigh.
Lee is survived by his wife, Elizabeth (Mackey) Stitzel, whom he married November 21, 1964; son, Jeffrey Stitzel; daughter, Jeanne Stitzel; grandchildren, Tyler Gilles, Alex and Becca Stitzel; brother, Richard D. (Hazel) Stitzel; sister-in-law, Lois Stitzel; and many “favorite” nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Phillip Stitzel.
A Memorial Mass for Lee will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, April 23, 2022, at St. Gabriel Catholic Church, 9935 Johnnycake Ridge Road in Concord Township. Family and friends will be received from 12:30 until 1:00 PM at the church.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the St. Gabriel Food Bank.
