Damir Roland Pavicic, his work here on earth is finished and he went home to be with his Heavenly Father on October 9, 2025. He was the beloved husband of Vicki Pavicic, the loving son of Josip and Biserka Pavicic, and the treasured brother of Sue Clemens. Damir was born in Nuremberg, Germany, on August 9, 1959. He came to the United States with his parents later that year, first settling in Cleveland, and then moving to Kirtland, Ohio, in the late 60’s.
Damir is survived by his wife Vicki Pavivic. He was her “rock” and cherished loving partner for 15 years. The love they shared was unwavering and he will truly be missed.
He is also survived by his sister, Sue (Bill) Clemens and his cherished friend and colleague, Carol Casey. He also leaves behind his dog, Max, who was an important part of his life. Max knew how to speak to Damir and Damir definitely listened.
Damir was preceded in death by his parents, Josip and Biserka Pavicic.
For over 30 years, Damir has been a cornerstone of Lake County’s behavioral health system, as executive director of BRIDGES-MHCE. He was an individual with lived experience, a fierce advocate of those in recovery, and a leader of an agency that grew from an innovations grant in 1990, into a multi-service agency serving hundreds of Lake Countians each year. Damir was in the unique position of seeing and serving the county from all three perspectives, making him a true “unicorn”, and an invaluable asset to the county’s mental health system. Damir’s life was a testament to strength, especially in conquering and overcoming many health struggles throughout his life. His life’s journey became his life’s work. He was a tireless advocate and pioneering champion of mental health recovery. He left a profound legacy of hope and empowerment for countless individuals challenged by mental illness.
Damir was an ardent, life-long republican and enjoyed his work on campaigns in the 90’s. He passionately wanted a better life for everyone he knew, and he worked with congressmen, state legislatures and local office holders to make our world a better place.
His journey on earth was marked by love, compassion and faith. He was a kind soul with a heart of gold. Although Damir’s physical presence may no longer grace our lives, his spirit will continue to inspire and uplift us. May his memory be a blessing, and may we carry forth his legacy of love and compassion in all that we do. His passing has left a void in the hearts of his family and friends. We ask that you remember Damir for the way he lived his life and by the profound impact it had on the lives of those who had the pleasure of knowing him. Our world is a better place because of Damir.
