A Mass of Christian burial for Dan R. Taylor, age 94, of Painesville, will be held 10:00 AM Friday February 12th, 2021 at St. Mary Catholic Church 242 North State Street, Painesville. Family and friends will be received 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM on Thursday, February 11th at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.
Dan was born July 16, 1926 in Knapp, WI. to Frank and Mary (Myers) Taylor. He passed away February 5, 2021 at West Medical Center in Willoughby, OH.
Graduated from Burbank High School, CA. Served in US Navy during WWII as Gunner's Mate. Employed by Eltech Corp (a Diamond Shamrock subsidiary) as quality control traveling world-wide. Member of Painesville St Mary Catholic Church, Holy Name Society, and W.R. Photo Society. Volunteered at St James Homeless Lunch Program, Painesville City school's PTA, and was the neighborhood handyman. Enjoyed listening and dancing to polka music, photography, and family camping trips.
Survived by children Kathryn (Mark) Schierloh, Tom Taylor, Diane (Jim) Wargo, Sue (Larry) Crellin, Debbie (Rory) Roberts, and David Taylor; grandchildren Marie (D.J.), Kate (Keith), Doug, Ryan, and Michelle (Marc); great-grandchildren Danielle, Camden, Hailey, and Avianna; brother-in-law Lee Barnes, and several nieces and nephews.
Preceded in death by his loving wife Eleanor after 64 years of marriage, parents Frank and Mae Taylor, sisters Pat Lawrence and Dot Barnes, and grandson Jesse Schierloh.
