Dane C Mackey

Dane Carl Mackey, age 75, born October 8, 1946 passed away April 18, 2022 surrounded by his loved ones in the comfort of his home. Dane is survived by wife, Sandra (Pernoja) Mackey, his three daughters, Jill (Pat) Remington, Christine Mackey Raines and Deena (Joe) Scouloukas. Grandchildren, Amber (Adam) Johnson, Erica Remington, Autumn Raines, Patrick Remington and Abby Scouloukas. Great grandchildren, Lily Maffit, Bo and Quinn Johnson, and Zoey and Emma McNish. Dane’s sister, Jean Reeves. Best friends and in-laws Jerry and Denise White.

Dane was a devoted husband to Sandra, his high school sweetheart, for 56 years. One of his favorite stories was riding Sandra on the crossbars of his bicycle through Fairport Harbor on their first date. He graduated from Fairport Harding High School on 1965. He excelled in football, basketball and track. He instilled the love and competiveness of sports to his daughters and grandchildren. Dane served in the Army from 1966-1968 as SPC 4th class. He retired from Lubrizol after working for 32 years.

In his free time, Dane enjoyed golf, bike riding and spending time with his family. He also enjoyed breakfast with Lubrizol fellow retirees and 1965 graduation class.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Cal and Thelma (Wolff) Mackey, infant brother, Carl David and his sister, Jane Takacs.

Please join us for a Celebration of Life on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at Leroy Community Chapel in Leroy at 11:00 am with reception to follow. Private burial will be in Williams Cemetery in Leroy, Ohio. In lieu of flowers, any donations can be made to Hospice of the Western Reserve or Leroy Community Chapel.
