Daniel Hunter Obituary

Daniel Edward Hunter, age 79, passed away November 11, 2021, at the Cleveland Clinic. He was born, March 13, 1942, in Painesville to Kenneth W. and Margaret Jane (Hall) Hunter.

Daniel served in the United States Navy during the Vietnam War. He was self-employed and was the owner/operator of Hunter Electric. He was a member of Painesville Elks Lodge No. 549 and the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in Painesville.

Dan enjoyed working with his hands, wrenching, tinkering and building.  He enjoyed miniature trains and restoring antique tractors and his fabled Cushman scooter.

Dan also loved anything outdoors.  He spent his youth in the scouting program enjoying Boy Scouts, Explorers and Sea Scouts.  He obtained the rank of Eagle Scout.  He adored both the family and the stag fishing trips to Canada.  Many summers were spent with the family camping, canoeing and white water rafting with the Mad Hatters Canoe Club.  Friends and family still talk of dune buggy rides with Dan.

Daniel is survived by his daughters, Rebecca (John) Birovsek, Jill (John) Murrin and Heidi Hunter; grandchildren, Sean, Megan, Angela, Clare, Ayden, Nicholas, and Michael; and many cousins, nieces, nephews and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Valerie J. Hunter in September, 2021; sister, Janet Littler, and his parents.
