David A. Franko, age 94, passed away September 26, 2021, at The Lantern of Madison in Madison, Ohio. He was born February 28, 1927, in Painesville to Anthony S. and Neva (Rogers) Franko.
David served in the United States Navy during World War II. He was a pipefitter and worked for the Diamond Shamrock Company for over 30 years. He then went to work for Euclid Inc. for 8 ½ years and Chase Brass Company for 3 years. David was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church in Painesville and Elks Lodge #549. He loved playing pinochle and bridge and was a “Florida fisherman”. David also enjoyed playing in the Bocci Ball League at the Elks Lodge. When he wasn’t working, you could always find him painting someone’s house, inside and out.
David is survived by his daughters, Cathy Zimmerman of Madison, and Donna (George) Novak of Painesville; son, David Franko of Painesville; grandchildren, Jenny (Jarrod) Ruth, Lisa (Mike) Sears, Melissa (Shawn Taylor) Zimmerman, Megan (Derek) Seibert, Heather (Daniel) Burkart; 15 great grandchildren; 10 great-great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death his wife, Gertrude (Stromme) Franko in 2002; his parents; brother, Paul Franko; sisters, Martha Vogt and Katherine Franko.
Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Monday, October 4, 2021, at St. Mary Catholic Church, 242 North State Street, Painesville. Friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Sunday, October 3, 2021, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.
