Doris Irene (Wilson) Sturm

Doris Irene Sturm, age 95, beloved wife of Richard “Dick” Sturm passed away March 12, 2025, at Govenors Point in Mentor, Ohio.  She was born March 31,1929, in Barberton, Ohio to Harold Wilson and Margaret (Able) Wilson.

Doris was a homemaker and also worked for Sears as a money counter.  She was a member of Mentor United Methodist Church for 72 years.  She was also a member of the Wildwood Garden Club, Mentor Women's Club, and Couple’s Club, Bell Chorus and Threads, a knitting group who knitted hats for preemies.  She spent many years coaching gymnastics and traveling with Mannheim Orchestra with her daughter Becky.  She and Dick had a lifelong love of dancing and were in many dance clubs over the years.  She also enjoyed traveling with her husband and family, with his SPEBSQSA Chorus and her sisters and their husbands.

Doris is survived by her daughters, Kathleen “Kathy” (Frank) Fatica, Susan Wolf, and Becky (Rick) Johnson; son, Richard C. “Ricky” (Teresa) Sturm; sisters, Martha Wayner and Annalee Bodi; 6 grandchildren, 4 great-grandchildren and 4 great-great grandchildren.  She was also “Aunt Doris” to 78 nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband Richard “Dick” Sturm, her granddaughter Sarah Fatica, her brother William Wilson and her sister Margaret Brainard; son-in-law, David Wolf. She is also preceded in death by her parents, Harold and Margaret Wilson.

Friends will be received 4:00 – 6:00 PM, Sunday, March 16, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio.  Funeral Services will be held at 11:00 AM, Monday, March 17, 2025, at Mentor United Methodist Church, 8600 Mentor Avenue, Mentor, Ohio.  Burial will be at Evergreen Cemetery in Painesville.
