Douglas “Doug” Ryan Jenkins passed away unexpectedly Friday, April 25th after a brief health complication, with his Fiancé Tina Bowen and family by his side. Born September 15th 1968, his fondest memories from childhood would be time spent with his brother Jamie and their beloved Grandma J.
Doug was truly larger than life in every aspect and will be remembered by those who loved him dearly as a big man with an even bigger heart. Doug loved out loud and joked even louder (sometimes to a fault), but his friends and family know that’s what made Doug himself.
Doug’s biggest sense of pride in life was his daughter Brittiney. All was right in this world, when he and his baby girl were together. Doug and Brit stuck to a strict phone call and FaceTime schedule and never missed an opportunity to be together as much as they could. He spent his last days with his baby girl and family all together. Doug and Brittiney’s daddy daughter dates, were his favorite days, only made better by sharing them with the people that they loved.
Doug loved nothing more than spending time with his family. The family he has known his whole life, the ones that he met later in life, and the collection of misfits that he picked up along the way. After surviving a motorcycle accident on his 50th birthday, he committed each and every day to living his life to the fullest. As he would say, “just a little bit slower and a little bit fatter than before.”
As an employee of Ohio Blow Pipe since January of 1991, Doug was always dedicated to his job and truly worked until his very last days. His friends from work would tell you he was always the first one to work and as hard as they tried to beat him there just once, they never did succeed. He worked with his hands his entire life and there was nothing mechanical the man couldn’t fix. Never a full time welder by trade, he was one of the best welders around. Just another trick amongst many others he kept in his tool box. His job took him across the nation and the world and he was always proud of the collection of people he met and memories he made along the way.
Doug found love in his fiancé Tina and together they created an even bigger and even better family together. They loved going on trips together and relaxing on the beach at Tybee Island, where he would ask Tina to marry him. He also loved his trips to his home away from home in Savannah, Georgia with his big loud family and having a little “too much fun” with his brother Jamie.
He loved more than anything becoming a grandpa and sharing his down time, holidays, and everything in between with the kiddos that filled his heart with so much joy. He truly would do anything for those kids.
Doug was attentive, loving, dedicated, and sometimes an outright pain in the a**. He was a father, a loving fiancé, a ride or die brother, a grandpa with a special relationship with each and every grandkid, the best “funcle”, and a “give the shirt off of his back” type of friend.
He is preceded in death by his Grandma “J”, Thelma Mae Jenkins, who loved him unconditionally, always.
He is survived by his baby girl, Brittiney (Boogie) Jenkins, his fiancé and true love Tina Bowen, his brother and sister in law Jamie (Tish) Jenkins, brother Michael (Sarah) Hawkins, Parents Sandra and Bill Hawkins, his daughter’s mother and long time partner Amy Jenkins, and in laws Ronald (Deborah) Breslaw. In addition, he is survived by his blended children Heidi Moreland and Justin Stout and grandkids Leddie “Professor” Nagle, Paislee “Bacon” Moreland, Arizona “Squeaky” Pittman, and Kyreese “Jelly” Pittman. Nephew John (Bethany) Clark, niece Taylor (Ryan) Hontz and niece Jordan Jenkins (John Alexander), his friends from the Wee-Bit and many, many more.
Sky high Dougie Fresh, we hope there is a Bucees and a Bernie’s in Heaven. Save us a seat at the bar.
Friends will be received 1:00 – 3:00 PM, Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Funeral Services will follow at 3:00 PM.
