Egidio Lunardi Obituary

Egidio V. Lunardi, age 86, passed away peacefully on June 27, 2024, at his home in Painesville.  He was born June 9, 1938, in San Romano in Garfagnana, Italy to Giuseppe and Della A. (Paolini) Lunardi.

Egidio moved to America and attended Providence College, where he obtained a Bachelor’s Degree.  He continued his education at Brown University, where he obtained a Master’s Degree and PhD.  During that time, he met and married Malvina.  In 1975, he moved his family to Painesville, Ohio, where he began his career as an Italian professor at Lake Erie College.  During his 30+ year career, he impacted thousands of lives on campus and on guided, educational tours abroad.  Upon his retirement, he was awarded the distinction of Professor Emeritus.

Egidio was immensely proud of his family and his heritage.  He loved traveling back to his home country with his children and grandchildren.  Ever the consummate professor, he took great joy in sharing his knowledge about his family history, as well as famous sites.  He also loved nature, horse races, playing cards with family in America and Italy, and a good drink.

Egidio is survived by his children, David (Kym), Rita, Carmela, and Joseph; grandsons, Skylar and Massimo; sisters, Susanna (Pellegrino Roccucci) and Angela (Giannantonio Fioretta); and dear cousin, Maria Teresa Giaccarini (Giovanni Bresciani).

He was preceded in death by his parents.
