Eleanor E. (Sabo) Zimny

Eleanor E. Zimny, age 93, passed away February 9, 2024. She was born October 10, 1930, in Painesville to George and Mary (Vayner) Sabo.

Besides being a homemaker, Eleanor had many occupational endeavors, including employment with the State of Ohio, Department of Liquor Control for many years.She enjoyed gathering with friends at the Hungarian Culture Club and the Slovenian American Club in Fairport Harbor.  She was famous for her cabbage rolls and her hospitality.

Eleanor is survived by her daughters, Eleanor (Frank) Simko, Theresa (Douglas) Taylor and Mary Jane (Vern) Ticknor; eight grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and 1 great-great granddaughter.

She was preceded in death by her husband Abe Zimny in 2003, son, Al Zimny in 1986; brother, Elmer Sabo; sister, Margaret (Andrew) Novak and her parents, George and Mary Sabo.

Friends will be received 4:00-8:00 PM, Wednesday, February 14, 2024, at Mulqueeny Spear Funeral Home, 312 Eagle Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.  Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 15th at St. Anthony of Padua Catholic Church, 523 Plum Street, Fairport Harbor, Ohio.
