Elizabeth "Libby" Ann (Kermode) Spetz

In loving memory of Elizabeth (Libby) Ann Kermode Spetz of Painesville, Ohio.  She died at age 76 on November 16, 2022.  Libby passed away surrounded by her loving family.

She was born on September 14, 1946, in Painesville, Ohio to the late Kenneth and Mary Kermode. On August 17, 1968, Libby married the love of her life, John J. Spetz.

Libby received her BA in English from Lake Erie College in Painesville, Ohio.  She was a teacher at St. Mary School in Painesville, Ohio before leaving to fulfill her lifelong dream of having a large family.  Libby was a loving mother to her 10 children and devoted grandmother to her 17 grandchildren.

She treasured her family both present and past and was an avid genealogist.  She also enjoyed sewing, crocheting, gardening, reading, and listening to Irish music.

Left to cherish her loving memory is her husband; John J. Spetz; her children; John Spetz, Lisa Spetz, Tina Guarnieri, Joni Becks and her husband, Charlie, Mike Spetz and his wife, Kelly (Draves), James Spetz and his wife, Sarim (Tot), Joe Spetz and his wife, Gretchen (Chriszt), Marie Spetz, Catherine Spetz, and Daniel Spetz; her grandchildren; Anthony Guarnieri, Naomi Vavpetic, Alex Becks, Julia Vavpetic, Tre Becks, Ted Spetz, Joseph Guarnieri, Dom Spetz, Bear Becks, Grady Spetz, Phin Spetz, Annie Spetz, Ollie Spetz, Parker Vavpetic, Lillian Spetz, Alana Spetz, and Kara Spetz; and her siblings; Mary Nackley and her husband Greg, Candace Kermode (Tulley), Kenneth Kermode and his wife Sally (Gilbride), and Thomas Kermode.

Libby is preceded in death by her parents and her brother, John Kermode.

A funeral service for Libby will be held at 10:00am at St. Mary Church in Painesville on December 2, 2022.  A visiting hour will begin at the church at 9:00am.  A live stream of the funeral service can be accessed from https://www.stmarypvl.org or St. Mary Church’s Facebook page.

Libby was cremated and will be laid to rest in St. Mary Cemetery in Painesville, Ohio.
