Else F. Miller, 89, of Concord Township entered eternal rest on September 5, 2023.
Else was born in Parma, Ohio on September 1, 1934, to the late Albert and Frieda Kalberer. She was one of three children who were raised in a proud German-American family surrounded by German foods, culture, and traditions. A graduate of Euclid High School, Else was a talented pianist and flutist, and passed that love for music onto her daughter. A devoted wife, caring mother, proud grandmother, aunt, and friend, Else will be deeply missed.
Else worked as a governess and then a data processor at Ohio Rubber. Here is where she met her husband of 58 years, Noah (Tom) Miller. After being married and having children, she devoted her time to caring for her family. Else was an avid and passionate reader who spent time in the sunshine with a good book and a few chocolates. Her trips to Sanibel Island with her family were some of her favorite memories. There, she ignited a passion for collecting seashells which inspired much of her home décor.
Else supported her two children, Matthew (Matt) and Karen, in their pursuits and passions. She attended concerts and ballgames where she attentively cheered for her children. Else enjoyed sports, as both a participant and an observer. She was a skilled bowler, participating in various Painesville ladies’ leagues. When she wasn’t shopping or enjoying nature, you would often catch Else watching sports, especially tennis, basketball, and football. As an enthusiastic fan of the Ohio State Buckeyes, Else looked forward to football season.
Else is survived by her husband, Tom; her son, Matthew; her daughter, Karen (Kacy Miller-Cross); her brother, Walter Kalberer; her grandchildren, Madison, Noah, and Maiya Miller and numerous granddogs. She was preceded in death by her parents, Albert and Freida Kalberer, and her brother, Norm Kalberer.
Visitation will be from 4pm to 7pm on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, at Spear-Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 312 Eagle Street in Fairport Harbor. A memorial service will be held at 11:00am on September 13, 2023, at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Avenue in Painesville.
The family extends their appreciation to all who cared for Else and gave her such peace and comfort in her final days including Hospice of the Western Reserve and Visiting Angels of Northeast Ohio.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in honor of Else Miller to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital or Zion Lutheran Church in Painesville.
