Gary Lee Brainard

Gary Lee Brainard, age 86, passed away November 25, 2025, in Huron, Ohio.  He was born December 3, 1938, in Painesville Ohio to Carl Brainard and Erma (Farren) Brainard.

Gary was a quality control and materials manager for Tenneco Automotive for many years.  He worked internationally with highlights being a trip on the Amazon to see rubber extracted in Brazil, where he managed a manufacturing facility for 2 years.

Gary enjoyed farming, fishing, golf and playing chess.  Among his fondest memories were traveling with family and friends.  He and Margie walked the Great Wall of China and took an Irish whirl in retirement.  They two loved living on Lake Erie and sharing their beach with many generations of families.

Gary is survived by daughter, Christine Davis; and sons, Gary Michael “Mike” Brainard and Doug Brainard; grandchildren Anne (Joe) Stormer, Luke Davis, Josh Davis, Katy (Sean) Capron, Max Davis, Lily Brainard, Wilson Brainard; great grandchildren Kaley (Tavis) Sticka, Tyler Capron, Myra Stormer, Sabrina Davis, Alexis Davis, Alivia Davis; great-great grandson Boone Stika.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years, Margaret (Wilson) Brainard in January 2024, his brothers Max and Jack Brainard and nephew Bryan Brainard.

Family and friends will be received at Spears-Mulqueeny Funeral home, 312 Eagle St, Fairport Harbor, Ohio on January 10th from 10am-noon.

Celebration of life services will be held at the Fairport Congregational Church at 1pm, also on Saturday, January 10th.  This will be followed by a meal at the church for all family and friends.
