Funeral services for Gary L. Nelson, age 73, of Geneva will be held at 2:30 PM Wednesday March 3, 2021 at Zion Lutheran Church 508 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH. Family and friends will be received from 4:00 PM until 6:00 PM Tuesday March 2, 2021 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville.

Gary was born December 2, 1947 in Painesville, OH to Myron and Pauline (Johnson) Nelson. He revved his engine and sped off to Heaven on February 26, 2021.

Gary graduated from Riverside High School in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Air Force as an aircraft maintenance specialist and served in Viet Nam. He was honorably discharged in 1970. Gary was a welder at Lubrizol Corp in Painesville for 15 years, then moved to Ayrshire in Chardon, and retired from Millenium in 2011. He was an avid classic car lover, from working on classics to rebuilding and driving his masterpieces. Gary could often be found at various car shows throughout N.E. Ohio.

Gary was a lifelong member of Zion Lutheran Church. He had an enormous heart and love for all who had the pleasure of knowing him, especially his family.

He is survived by his wife of 51 years, Ruby M. (Warrick) Nelson; sons, Rusty (Amy) Nelson, Terry Ferrell, Thomas (Angie) Ferrell; daughters, Teresa (Greg) Schnell, Rita Ferrell, Rose (Gabe) Norton; brother, Dennis (Maria) Nelson; sister, Judy Gladen; sister-in-law Jane Nelson; sixteen grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and many nieces, nephews, family and friends.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be made in his name to Our Shepherd Lutheran School 508 Mentor Ave. Painesville, Ohio 44077.
