George Dewey Jr.

George Dewey Jr., 79, passed away December 21, 2025 at his home. He was born in Painesville, to his parents  George Sr and Helen (Rein) Dewey.

Above all else, George loved his son. Their bond was deep, constant, and evident to anyone who knew them. Along with daily companionship, they shared countless miles together, traveling year after year, turning ordinary roads into lifelong memories. 

George had grease in his veins and a lifelong fascination with machines. He was a 60 year member of Local 18 Operating Engineers as a heavy equipment operator.

He also had a deep love for animals, whether big or small, animals seemed to recognize in George a kindred spirit—steady, protective, and genuine.

Known for his spitfire personality, George was sharp-witted, outspoken, and full of life. He said what he meant and meant what he said, often with a grin and a spark in his eye. His presence filled a room, and his absence will be deeply felt.

George is survived by his son, Jason and his faithful companion, his doggy Ruger.
