Gertrude Helen Losely, age 89, passed away September 23, 2021, at Metro General Hospital in Cleveland. She was born October 29, 1931, in Lanesville, Indiana to Rudolf G. and Emma (Germann) Merkle.
Gertrude was an owner/operator of Herman Losely & Son Inc. in Perry. She was an active member of Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church in Painesville. Where she enjoyed singing in the church choir, being an active member of the Lutheran Women’s Missionary League chapter at Zion, playing the piano for shut-in services at various care facilities, reading, and traveling with her husband, Edward. Gertrude met Edward while attending The Ohio State University and was married at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Chuckery, Ohio on November 18, 1951.
Gertrude is survived by her son, Karl (Kathy) Losely of Perry; brother, Robert (Suzanne) Merkle of Plain City, Ohio; sister-in-law, Vivian Merkle of Phoenix, Arizona; and many nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward H. Losely in 2007; brother, Edward Merkle; sister, Dorothy Calhoon; and her parents.
Funeral Services for Gertrude will be held Tuesday, October 5, 2021, at 10:00 AM at Zion Lutheran Church, 508 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, Ohio. Friends will be received 4:00 – 7:00 PM, Monday, October 4, 2021, at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville. Burial will be in Perry Cemetery.
