Giuseppe “Joseph” Paolucci, age 90, passed away peacefully while surrounded by his family on February 3, 2021. He was born on December 5, 1930 in Colle Sannita, Italy to Pasquale and Marianna (Martucci) Paolucci.
Joseph immigrated to the United States (New York, New York) at the age of 20 with his wife Pasqualina (Pilla) Paolucci. He was a hard-working and skilled bricklayer, stonemason and pipe fitter who initially was a member of the Bricklayers Union Local 5 and later, at the Conrail Company. It was not uncommon to find Joseph helping family and friends with their homes and other special projects, as his talents were always in need, especially as more of his family and friends came to the United States to make new lives for themselves.
Joseph was a community volunteer and actively involved with his parish, St. Joseph Calasanctius Church in Jefferson, Ohio. He was a longstanding member of the Knights of Columbus and achieved the rank of 4th Degree Knight. You would routinely find him distributing communion as a Eucharistic Minister and serving the parish in other significant ways.
Joseph was a farmer at heart and would spend any free time that he had tending to his land, bailing hay, feeding his goats, sheep and chickens. He had so much love for the many German Shepherds he had over the years. Joseph was a skilled winemaker and loved sharing it with family and friends as he told stories of his childhood in Italy.
Joseph is survived by his wife of 69 years, Pasqualina (Pilla) Paolucci; his brother Mike (Lucy) Paolucci; his daughter, Anna (Amerigo) Berardinelli; his sons Pasquale “Pat” (Josephine) Paolucci; Antonio “Tony” (Deanne) Paolucci; grandchildren, Nancy (Eric) Krantz; Stephen (Tara) Berardinelli; Linda (Marc) Geise, Laura (Greg) Halko, Danielle (Neil) Sharp, Patricia (Bradley) Yates, Alexandria (fiancé Collin) Paolucci, Nicole (Rocco) Adduci, and Bryanna (Jonathon) Mannarino. He was also blessed with seventeen (17) great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents Pasquale and Marianna (Martucci) Paolucci and his sister, Filomena (Tommaso) Pozzuto.
Family and friends will be received 1:00-4:00 PM, Sunday, February 7, 2021 at Spear Mulqueeny Funeral Home, 667 Mentor Avenue, Painesville, OH. Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:00 AM, Monday, February 8th at St. Cyprian Catholic Church, 4223 Middle Ridge Road, Perry, OH.
